ABOUT US
Georgia Strings formed in 2003. Charter members Jennifer Johnson, Kathy Wallace, Dana Lu, and Kelly Taylor are all Georgia natives and alumni of the University of Georgia. Recently the group expanded to include Allison Bates on violin, Michael Giel on viola, and Susan Viar on cello. These outstanding musicians perform regularly with the group as their schedules permit.
All members of Georgia Strings have earned graduate degrees in music. Most are actively teaching orchestra in the Gwinnett County Public Schools. Kathy, Dana, Kelly, and Susan have all worked as middle school co-directors. Jennifer runs a highly-successful violin studio out of her home. Michael is the orchestra director for the Georgia Governor's Honors Program, and Allison was selected to travel to Germany as a Fulbright Scholar!
